Forgotten historic cemeteries present a wicked problem, adversely impacting the safety and well-being of communities and ecosystems through pervasive prostitution, drugs, vandalism, neglect, degrading property values, and diminishing biodiversity.
Four Interconnected Initiatives That Define CLM’s 2nd Year
In Development

CLM’s consortium of scientists will use qualitative and quantitative evaluation methodologies to determine CLM’s impact, which will drive future expansion of the organization and its programs.

B. Quantitative – collect ambient temperature, air quality, biodiversity, and community health metrics for 1 year in 5 cemeteries. Key personnel – NASA physicist Dr. David Lary, a Professor of Physics at the Hanson Center for Space Science. ($125,000)

CLM is working on creating collaborations with The 6th Floor Museum, Holocaust Museum, African American Museum, Latino Cultural Center, The Warehouse, DMA, and the Perot Museum to engage communities across Dallas in our vital and unique work through visual art in 3 phases. Over the next 18 months, the CLM will organize artists from every corner of Dallas to create vibrant works showcasing life, diversity, history, nature, and other related elements. The works will be available for purchase, providing awareness and financial support for the Constellation of Living Memorials, the artists, and the museums and furthering our mission to reconnect people to the truths that humans are part of the environment and that death is a part of life. Art has the power to reshape society and is a unifier that can catalyze meaningful change by evoking emotions, fostering empathy, and connecting people to inspire lasting change. Key personnel – Gus Hinojosa, President of Mexican American Museum of Texas, and Brittani Hite, Ethos Consulting - Community Engagement Component. To learn more, click here.
(Cost: $500K - Variable)
This initiative is currently in development. We had our first on-site meeting at the Six Floor Museum with Kim Bryan, Chief Philanthropy Officer. Kim has been instrumental in working with CLM to shape this initiative and is making introductions with Visit Dallas and Dallas Arts and Cultures for support. Gus has made introductions to the Holocaust Museum and Latino Cultural Center, scheduling meetings in January. We have made a connection at the Warehouse and are looking for assistance with an introduction to the African American Museum, Perot, and DMA.
