The Constellation of Living Memorials secured a $30K Grant from the Summerlee Foundation to conduct a one-year cultural archeological study at the Western Heights Cemetery. The agent hired to lead this study was Victoria Clow, then Preservation Dallas's president and the grant's fiduciary. The Constellation of Living Memorials program was created by the Friends of the Warren Ferris Cemetery, a non-profit organization dedicated to reviving historic and forgotten cemeteries, turning them into wildlife sanctuaries for community engagement. Through the Constellation of Living Memorials‘ two-year pilot program, a $30K matching grant from the Texas Historical Foundation to create a native pollinator habitat in five historic cemeteries in historically marginalized communities in South Dallas. Western Heights Cemetery is one of those five enrolled.
